Recently I came across a couple of headlines which made me realize that there is something very wrong with the way that the U.S. school system is today, compared to how it was when I was in elementary school.
One of those headlines read: 7 year old accused of possible sexual harassment for kicking a boy in groin.
According to the boy, who did the groin kicking, he was acting in self defense because the bully had been bullying him for a couple of weeks when finally the bully decided to choke him because he wanted to take his gloves, which caused the bully to get kicked in his groin.
There have been other incidents which involved very young children, who have no concept about what sexual harassment means, when their classroom teacher made the bad decision to report it as a sexual crime, which then makes it seem like the adults in charge are not being rational because they are knowingly or unknowingly promoting the sexualization of our young children.
With that said, we need to start asking ourselves why the teachers and other employees of the schools are reacting like that in comparison to how our teachers reacted to similar incidents, when we were in elementary school.
What it seems like to me is that the bullying issue is not being addressed, but instead they are making a case out of the self defense act of kicking another child in the groin and calling it sexual harassment, instead of self defense.
Need I remind the adults in the room that children do not understand what sexual harassment is, or why kicking someone in the groin in self defense would be considered to be sexual harassment, instead of something that makes more sense to a child of that age.
