What is the Comprehensive National Service Plan & why should we be concerned?

I felt compelled to write a blog about this Comprehensive National Service Plan because I was taken a back by the response, in which, I had gotten from a friend of my youngest son, when I asked him what his thoughts were on that subject.
I was told that he was unaware of it because he and his parents don't bother to watch the news. Okay, I said, What about looking on the internet for alternative news sites, which give you real news articles to read, instead of the propaganda news, which you can find on any television news broadcast? He was not interested.
The sad thing about that statement from a 20 something person is that he is between the ages of 18 & 25, which this service plan is geared toward. The service plan would require him and any other person, including females, within that age group, to go through 3 months of basic training, civil defense preparation, and community service. When I went through basic training back in the early 80's, I only had to endure 2 months , which was not easy, so I can't imagine the youth of today having to endure 3 months of training.
So, let's just imagine that most of those people within that age group ( my youngest son included), also are not aware of this law, which could be passed into law, sometime this year. This would mean that this unaware age group would not be writing letters to their congressman to let them know that they are not interested in being drafted into the military.
It will be too late, when it gets passed into law, to try to stop it, and the military comes knocking at their doors, to whisk them off to a military base near you, for them to begin their intensive training and exercise program, which includes, learning how to use a gas mask by putting one on ( hopefully the right way) and entering a tightly sealed building, which has been filled with tear gas. I can honestly say that it is not a fun experience.
I hope that they don't cherish sleep. They will be woken up at 4 a.m., or should I say 0400 hours, because a drill sergeant was not pleased with how the barracks was cleaned the day before.
Another thing that was not very pleasant was the number of shots, which are mandatory, and are administered with an injector gun that they will receive while they are in boot camp. I can't even tell you what they were for, when I had to go through that process.
With all of that said, The concern that I have for these young people is that when the threat of war also comes knocking at our doors, are they going to be forced into military combat to protect the rest of the population, with only 3 months of preparation? I know that a more peaceful solution should be used before we decide to use our youths for our own protection.
The video that I chose for this blog is from when President Obama was campaigning.
