What's a girl to do when she is experiencing the downfall of her country?
Should she cower and hide her eyes and hope that things don't get any worse, or should she get up and fight to try to keep things from getting any worse?
Waiting, wondering if she really could make a difference by herself, or if she would be better off getting on the net and trying to get the word out to other people, who could then get it out to their people on the net.
Anyways, I do know from all of the research that I have been doing, that the U.S.A. we have been living in for most of the last 8 years, was made into a whiz bang society, and people were making money hand over fist by using their homes like an ATM machine. Meanwhile, the housing bubble began to get so big that the honest person, who had been saving his hard earned money for a down payment toward his first home, (which, because of the housing prices being inflated from the house flipping bubble, was not going to get him much of a house), therefore, once he realized that, he says to himself, " What do I do now after I saved my money all those years? I saved because I wanted a bigger house so that when I found the right girl we could live there and raise a family ... I need two bathrooms at least!!!" But alas, he only has enough saved for one bathroom because the prices are too high.
I still can not believe that the price of a decent sized home, for a family of four, was priced out of the working wage price range.
It all came about because of the gov't deciding to deregulate the banks' lending practices, and let's not forget about the federal reserve bank ( which is a privately owned bank, not a federal gov't bank, in case you did not know) getting deregulated while bush was in office.
No money down? Don't worry, we will cover your asses (for now). So then the potential home buyer says " cool, where do I sign?"
The slightly smarter potential buyer asks, "How much will I need to pay when the loan resets to a higher rate?" And the lender answers, " Oh, don't worry about that, we will refinance the loan, so that the payment will still be affordable."
So, here we are just barely into 2009 and a lot of homes are still going into foreclosure. Not just because their mortgage payments readjusted to a higher rate, but because hundreds of thousands of people lost their jobs, and they can no longer make their mortgage payment, refinanced or not.
Oh, and let's not forget that some of the homes, which were already paid off, or were close to being paid off, are starting to go into foreclosure, because a lot of those home owners took out a second mortgage, and now they have either lost their jobs, or lost a lot of their money in the falling stock market, which cut into their retirement funds, and of course, the falling stock market is just another can of worms waiting to be opened, and eventually destroyed.
So, as I said before, " What is a girl to do?"
