According to a health lobby group, which is based in Washington, D.C., the caramel color used in Coca-Cola and Pepsi, and other foods, is contaminated with two cancer-causing chemicals, and should be banned.
The artificial brown coloring in colas and other products is made under high pressure and temperatures by combining ammonia and sulfites, with reacting sugars.
